TLC Radio Interview with Jim Carter

Today my guest is Jim Carter, owner and founder of South Coast Winery, Resort & Spa, and Carter Estates. South Coast has been called the “Diamond of the Temecula Valley.” A must on your wish list.

South Coast has been recognized with over 600 distinguished awards for the wines they’ve produced in just four years, South Coast shocked the Wine industry further in July of 2008 when it took the coveted “Golden Bear” award from its Northern California counterparts, naming it “California Winery of the Year” from the California State Fair Wine Competition.

As impressive as all that is,  that’s not the story I want to share with you today. I want you to hear from a man with the gift of Vision.

A verse I often use with my coaching clients is Proverbs 29:18:

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

Vision and Joy go hand in Hand.

Research has shown that people who use goal setting effectively to reach their vision:

  • Suffer less from stress and anxiety
  • Concentrate better
  • Show more self-confidence
  • Perform better
  • Are happier and more satisfied. (Damon Burton, 1983)

Acts 2:17 says,

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.”

Tammy’s One-Minute Tip

Establish Clearly Defined Goals

 1.  Passion Statement: Ask yourself, “What is it?”

Passion comes from one of three things:  an interest, a desire, or a need.

2.  Vision Statement: Ask yourself, “What does it look like?”

Map out the next 3 to 5 years.  Make mile marker to keep you on track.

3.  Mission Statement: Ask yourself, “How do you get there?”

List the steps you need to take to get there and  list the people you need to help.  List the skills required to make it happen.
