TLC Radio Interview with Annette Craig

Annette Craig, lost her 14 ½ year old daughter, Amber, to suicide on May 25, 2005. Through the shock of Amber’s suicide a need arose.  While striving to understand the path Amber so horribly chose, she learned some startling statistics about youth/ teen suicide.  With Hope, the Amber Craig Memorial Foundation was born with the desire that as a community we could help youth navigate through troubled times.  With Hope Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (c)3 organization committed to supporting our schools’ and local efforts in suicide prevention through education.   With Hope Foundation has provided educational presentations to over 150,000 high school students, parents, staff and community members in Orange, San Bernardino, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. In addition to the life-saving educational presentations, With Hope Foundation provides support services and resources to families who have lost a loved one to suicide. Annette currently resides in Placentia, California with her husband of 26 years, Scott.  They have two sons, Josh age 22 and Travis age 20.

It has been my goal to bring you relevant and informational topics you will benefit from. In today’s world of pressure and disappointment we need to encourage one another with our words and actions.

Today my guest is not immune to hurt and pain.  Annette Craig is the founder and president of “With Hope,” the Amber Craig Memorial Foundation.  Annette’s story will touch your heart with sorrow, hope and inspiration, but first let me share with you today’s scripture:

Hebrews 3:13

“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”

Statistics about suicide:

  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for college age teens
  • For every completed suicide there are 100 to 200 attempts
  • A person dies from suicide every 16 minutes in America
  • Females attempt 4 times more than males
  • One in 12 college students have made a suicide plan

Life Coach Tammy’s One-Minute Tip

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

1) Come to God:

You must take the first step. You cannot do it alone. God has given us people and ministries to help and encourage us. First you must COME..

2) Take His Yoke:

Release it all to Him… You cannot carry this load alone. God wants you to “let go” of everything holding down and holding you back from His perfect love for you.

3) Find Rest for your Soul:

The only true rest and peace comes in knowing and trusting that God wants the best for you.
