Today I want to tell you a story that will touch your heart. It’s one of pain, and sorrow but also forgiveness.

Because of the nature of this topic I have invited Counselor and therapist Karla Downing to be in the studio to address some of the issues that will be discussed today.  Before I begin our story I want to share with you our scripture for today, Matthew 6:14-15:

“For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.”

The story I am going to share with you today is a true story and one very personal to me. It’s the story of a brave and courageous little girl who would one day become my mother.  The year is 1930.  After an unsuccessful abortion my mother was born to a young, poor, single, women.

Forgiveness is the act of throwing off and throwing away. It is releasing the memory and power of an action, event or situation that has caused a stronghold it your life.
